Christmas Albums

Featuring albums from the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers, West Coast Mennonite Chamber Choir, and others. Not all albums featured here are entirely Christmas music, but all have a significant number of songs about the birth of Christ.

Christmas has always been deeply meaningful for Robert Shaw. Once destined for a ministerial career, he retains in his music-making something of the preacher: the passion for textual communication, the evangelical desire to reach his listeners. At Christmas time, scornful of the commerical noise and acquisitive scramble that have come to burden the season, he gathers his musical forces around him and contemplates the meaning of the Christmas story through music.

Once more Rober Shaw has recorded a collection of the music of Christmas. Once more he brings his insight and fervor to the medium of which he his the undisputed master, choral music.
